Bill Hubard - Markets.com

hubardBill Hubard joined the Morgan Guaranty Trust Company of New York in August 1971 as a bond trader, transacting one of the first trades in the original 30-year bond.  Hubard was later recruited by John Mack of F.S. Smithers to do risk arbitrage/mortgage-backed securities.   The research team consisted of McCarthy-Crisanti-Maffei (MCM), with Robert Reid (Reid Thunberg) and Larry Kudlow (CNBC) as economists.   Hubard formed MaxCor (1978) with Bruce Maxwell to do US government/Treasury repurchase agreement as one of the first government repurchase agreement brokers in New York and for 7 years was the repo broker for Salomon Brothers and John Merriwether.  He subsequently helped execute the first asset swap between Citicorp and Detroit Edison in 1981.

Hubard moved to London in January 1987 in the midst of the '87 hurricane and Black Monday.  He ran the Asset-Liability group for RZB-Austria using this as a springboard to move to the Italian swaps book at ICAP with Michael Spencer.  Hubard retired in 1995, teaching courses at the LIFFE and LSE before being contacted by Michael Bloomberg in 1997 to setup and run the in-house training program.  Less than 2 years later, Hubard was asked to give a series of training lectures to the fledgling Bloomberg TV operation and joined the team for non-farm payrolls in November 1999 resulting in the conception of Bill Hubard at the Bloomberg Big Board.  This was followed by a 2-year stint with CNBC-TV (Europe) as an economics commentator, before retiring in January 2006.

During retirement, Hubard spent 7 months writing the 'Financialization of Commodities' for the IFR/ThomsonReuters (May 2007-November 2007).   Since joining Markets.com as the Chief Economist, Hubard has been a weekly fixture on Bloomberg-TV (London/Mumbai/Istanbul), and serves as a regular guest on CNBC-TV (London/New Delhi/Dubai), BBC World Service, and France 24.

Lee Sandford, Trading College

sandfordFollowing an 18 year career in professional football, Lee committed himself to mastering the markets.   Like many beginners, the early years saw him attending a few courses - but this generated little more than frustration.  So Lee read avidly and looked further afield.  After an enlightening stint in the grains trading pits at the Chicago Board of Trade, he returned to the UK with new vigour.
Lee has now traded for approx 20 years and earns his living as a trader.
He will be demonstrating how he makes consistent profits using his Range Bars Trading System in the Forex markets.  Range bars are relatively new and, he believes, they represent good opportunities.  As traders we can be over-focussed on the concept of ‘time’ on charts instead of ‘price’.  Lee will show that whether we use tick charts or range bars, traders need to know how price patterns form and how to take maximum advantage of them.
‘A market is either in a trend or a range. You can trade both but only if you know the patterns.  Range bars give you the same patterns every day so you can soon become an expert in them’.
To make consistent profits and achieve stress-free trading Lee believes in keeping it simple.  Range bars make it easy to identify chart setups.   ‘I have some very powerful trading indicators that identify trends and range bound markets.  These are all colour-coded so I can instantly see when I get a signal.  Become the master of your tools and you then have a chance of being a highly successful trader”.

Lee Sandford is hosting the “Create Your Own Successful Trading Strategy” at 2.15 pm in the Main Auditorium, Book HERE
